Soap berries/Soap Nuts are probably one of the most sustainable cleaning products on the market. They are naturally hypoallergenic and odorless. Also called 'Sapindus Mukorossi' and whilst we called them soap nuts and they are referred to as soap nuts, they don't actually contain any soap (because it doesn’t contain lye) and are not nuts or related to nuts in any way. Soap nuts come from the Soap Nut tree, the part of the tree that is the 'soap nut' is a macadamia-sized berry which is split open and dried in the sun, producing a dark golden ‘shell’ that is 100% biodegradable. These shells of the berries themselves are what is known as ‘soap nuts’ containing a very high percentage of saponins, a surfactant which removes dirt and oils when contacted with water. Soap Berries help heal Psoriasis and Eczema, prevents Dandruff, helps in preventing hair fall, increases smooth blood circulation, treats hair split ends, treats dry skin and also fights against Skin and Scalp infections.
